Melbourne – The Mercedes-AMG tweaked Maybach 57 S, boasting a 6-litre V12 biturbo engine and 450 kW of power will be seen in Australia for the first time at next week’s Melbourne Motor Show. The car, which was spe-cially flown in for the show, will be available in Australia for delivery from mid 2006.

This new 57 S responds to the wishes of discerning customers for even greater engine output and agility. Its 6-litre V12 biturbo engine has been en-hanced by Mercedes-AMG to develop 450 kW of power. The impressive maximum torque of 1000Nm (electronically limited) is available over a wide engine speed range between 2000 and 4000 rpm. It features a firmer sus-pension set-up which ensures that it is able to transfer this formidable power to the road without compromising the extremely high level of ride comfort, which is one of the hallmarks of the Maybach luxury saloons.

This combination makes the Maybach 57 S the ideal high-end luxury saloon for enthusiastic owner-drivers seeking the very latest high-performance technology. With acceleration from standstill to 100km/h in only five sec-onds, the new Maybach S impressively demonstrates its outstanding per-formance potential.

Design emphasises dynamic character
Visual highlights add emphasis to the distinctly dynamic character of this powerful luxury saloon. They include an exclusive monochrome colour scheme featuring special black or silver paint finishes, a modified front sec-tion with an enhanced radiator grille and revised light units, a discreet “57 S” legend on the front wing below the A-pillar and on the boot lid, as well as a redesigned apron with two new trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes subtly indicat-ing the high performance potential of the 57 S.

The highly distinctive and exclusive tone is maintained inside the vehicle where a carefully balanced combination of piano lacquer and carbon ele-ments – especially in the areas within the driver’s reach and immediate field of view – creates an atmosphere of dynamic elegance.

Mercedes-AMG ‘Manufaktur’
In line with the Maybach approach, the twelve-cylinder bi-turbo engine is hand-assembled in the Mercedes-AMG engine workshops, or ‘Manufaktur’. The “One man, one engine” philosophy is reflected by the signature of the technician responsible on the characteristic model plate, which is attached to the engine cover of the V12 bi-turbo in the Maybach 57 S – a guarantee of the greatest care and superlative quality.
